Franco Zeffirelli's adaptation of William Shakespeare "The Taming of the Shrew is a spicy version of the classic comedy, from performances by Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor and Nino Rota's score said. Instead of making a play, Zeffirelli turned Shakespeare's text in a lifetime, Movie, with large sets and cinematography. Set in Padua, Italy at the end of 1500, tells the story of 'shy Bianca (Natasha Pyne) and the close Katarina (Elizabeth Taylor), thetwo daughters of a wealthy merchant Baptista (Michael Hordern). Though Bianca is being courted by a number of young people, Baptista announces that she is not married, is married to Catherine. None of the men in town are willing to marry Katarina, so Bianca remains unmarried, although most candidates - as Lucentio (Michael York), a student who began working as a tutor in the Hordern house just so he can be close to Bianca - line up to marry the girl. No man approaches Katarina until Petruchio (RichardBurton - a wanderer who arrived in Padua just to find a rich wife - falls in love with her. After an intense, occasionally furious, courtship, Katarina finally agrees to marry him, and they move to Petruchio's shoddy house, which is located outside the city. After the wedding, Lucentio reveals that he is not a student, but the son of one of the most respected men in the city. Lucentio gets permission to marry Bianca and a mild Katarina shows to the wedding, giving advice...
