1936th David, an unemployed young leaves Liverpool to join the fight against fascism in the early days of the Spanish Civil War. He joins an international section of the Republican militia on the Aragon front, where he experiences the trials and torments of war. Wounded, recovering in Barcelona and is on the Republican side in the conflict between the Communist Party and his fellow revolutionaries in the militia captured. The solution to this conflict, and the return of David to the frontcan be tragic, but his faith is unshakable in the possibility of revolutionary change. His story is only after his death, sixty years after he discovered in the letters of his nephew revealed.
